A cold cooktop, a damp sponge, and a dry cloth
Glass stovetops are on the Shadazzle label by name, and our own films show the paste on a black cooktop. Read your cooktop manual before the first try, though. SCHOTT, a maker of cooktop glass, asks for a scraper, a few drops of a cooktop cleaner and a dry wipe, and warns against scouring pads and abrasives. A clay paste is a mild abrasive. If your manual says the same, clean the glass the maker's way and keep the paste for the steel and the chrome.
If your manual allows a mild cleaning paste, start on a cold cooktop and try a corner first. Work a little foam over the mark with light pressure, take it off with a damp cloth and dry the glass with a clean one. On a dark cooktop, film left behind shows as a gray haze. Burnt sugar or melted plastic is a job for the scraper, straight away, as the glass makers advise.
These 3 products are part of the Shadazzle range, $7.99 to $39.99 in our last catalog update.

Questions
Glass stovetops: what people ask
Can you use Shadazzle on your glass cooktop?
Glass stovetops are on the label, but check your cooktop manual first: some cooktop makers ask for a scraper and their own cleaner and warn against abrasives. If yours allows a mild paste, use it on a cold cooktop, try a corner first, and dry the glass afterwards.
What do you do about burnt sugar on your glass stovetop?
Scrape it off with a cooktop scraper straight away, as the glass makers advise, before it sets. Paste, if your manual allows it, comes after.
What should you keep off your glass cooktop?
Scouring pads, steel wool and scratching powders, which cooktop makers warn against.
