About Shadazzle

Shadazzle is a cleaning range built around one tub: a clay paste with a sponge inside, made in France. The name has been on it since 2013, 13 years now, and the rest of our range has grown up around it.

What Shadazzle makes

Start with the tub most people know: Shadazzle Cleaner & Polish. Lift the lid and there is a firm paste with a sponge sitting on it. The label lists four ingredients, clay, vegetable oil, vegetable glycerin and fragrance, and the tub holds 10.58 ounces. You wet the sponge, rub it on the paste until it foams, and clean steel, chrome, glass, porcelain and ceramics with that foam. It comes in five scents, lemon, eucalyptus, grapefruit, lavender and mint & lime.

Next to it sit four products for the jobs the paste is not meant for. A solid dish soap bar, three to a pack, cut by hand in the USA, that replaces the bottle by the sink. A solvent-free wood restorer in a 500 ml tin for finished furniture, cabinets and floors. A DIY laundry detergent: one powder sachet mixed with water into 1.8 liters of liquid. And a pair of nanofiber cloths, made in France, that clean glass and screens with water alone. A set puts a lemon tub and the cloths in one box.

Questions about a product go to tubshine@shadazzle.org, and the Shadazzle desk answers them.

Who it is for

You, most likely, standing at the sink. The steel has gone dull with water marks, there is a ring on the glass cooktop from last night, and the chrome tap has a gray film that dish soap does not touch. Or you are tired of a cupboard full of half-used sprays, one per surface, and want one tub that does most of them.

The other products are for the same person on another day: the plates, the dining table with a white ring from a cold glass, a basket of towels in a small apartment with no room for a jug of detergent, a pair of glasses that never seems clean.

How to get the best out of it

Use the paste sparingly, rinse well and dry the surface with a clean cloth. The step that matters most is the last wipe: paste left to dry on a surface leaves a white film, as the label warns. Keep it to the surfaces the label names, and leave brass, marble, natural stone and wood to other products. The full steps for every Shadazzle product are on how to use Shadazzle, and a surface-by-surface list is on where Shadazzle works.

Like any cleaner, keep it where children and pets cannot reach it, in its own container, and do not mix it with other cleaning products. Public health advice asks the same of every bottle and tub under the sink.

When a tub, a bar or a tin does not behave the way you expected, the people at Shadazzle want to hear about it, with the surface and what was on it.
